LUXURY GHETTO
Here is a small selection, out of a series of 45 (ongoing) They are often fly postered onto the streets. The street is a very important layer to the montages. They come in black and white, as well as colour.

this is my new, latest idea so it's subject to BIG CHANGE. But this is what I have so far. With practice, and better spec computers, I'm sure my
clumsiness will disappear.
I'm proposing a partial intervention in these chaotic spaces. Since most of the shanties are disappearing in the wake of the military "Shock Troops" followed by the arrival of demolition infrastructure: tractors and excavators
I've decided that my intention is to recover these spaces from recent historic memory. If the Cingapura Project (the project to demolish shanty towns and convert the space into a vertical habitat for the residents) will cancel out part of this illegal territorialization, why not propose alternatives to the suppression?
This also mirrors the situation with regeneration in the UK. my proposal for partial recycling, starting from the pre-existing reality, proposing a radical restructuring of the
construct-ability, improving precarious conditions of habitability. they have a presumed
existence, which are merely hypothetical abstractions of actual entities... I'm
trying 2 create the 'smizz' like charm through a subtle use of satire, their dissonant frankenstien-esk facades look like million dollar business has created the luxury slum
. The inspiration has come from Gordon Matta Clark who transmuted the decayed ruins of industrial cities and
American culture into ethereally haunting visages of the nation's changing face. his interventions such as "splitting" in which he sawed through
abandoned houses, provided a great sentiment towards the dysfunctialists towards the
American dream. in a similar sort of way, since i cant knock holes through walls and i love messing
with satire... by "re-purposing" photo's and objects in this way we can question our own
fundamental questions of conceptualizations and expectations regarding the aesthetics
of poverty, and of wealth and urban planning. and ultimately the questions of regeneration, public space, post modern architecture and urban city dwelling.
Bringing 2 the table my usual socio-political concerns forward, like i usually do in my art practice.
